7-Channel Equal Power
7-Channel Equal Power is a feature used in various Denon amplifiers to connect 7 speakers independently so that separate power amps connected via pre-outs are not required. It allows you to connect the second 'surround back' speaker to complement the surround back speaker for 6.1, straight off the main amplifier without adding a power amplifier to support 7.1 surround formats. Amplifiers with 7-Channel Equal Power have built-in separate internal amplifiers to power each channel independently, thus allowing you to enjoy the same high power output capability per channel, giving a balanced and truly high-impact surround-sound environment.
7-Channel Stereo
Denon's 7-Channel Stereo mode enables top quality normal two channel stereo output from the surround speakers to provide a unique 7 channel stereo option. This mode can be fully utilized from any high quality stereo source via CD, tape, FM-radio or video recorder for dynamic 7-channel output. The 7-channel stereo is available if you have a surround back right speaker connected as well as the surround back left speaker used in 6.1, otherwise you can still experience multi-channel stereo output using a 5-channel-stereo or 6-channel-stereo configuration. ASD-1R The Denon ASD-1R (and the newer ASD-11R released in 2008) is a convenient iPod docking station compatible with this Denon component. Charging, iPod control, and playback of audio and video content is possible, and is dependent on each device's capabilities. Audyssey Dynamic Volume Audyssey Dynamic Volume solves the problem of large variations in volume level between television programs, commercials, and between the soft and loud passages of movies. Audyssey MultEQ Room acoustic measuring and correction system analyzes (via the included microphone) the audio characteristics of your speaker system and your listening environment at up to 6 measurement points and automatically tailors the sound for top audio fidelity. Auto Set-Up/Room EQ Adjust The Auto Set-Up/Room EQ Adjust feature eases setup hassles by confirming speaker phase, assessing the sizes of all of your speakers, measuring speaker-to-listener distances, and balancing speaker levels. With the Denon DM-A405, DM-S205 or DM-S305 calibration-grade microphone (some optional) placed in your favorite listening seat, this feature uses a test tone generator and proprietary programming to precisely balance speaker levels and fine-tune the delay and EQ settings for each speaker. The result is optimized system performance for your specific home theater room. Cinema Equalizer The sound from movie sources recorded in Dolby Digital, dts, or other formats emphasizes high-frequency range due to a theaters front speakers being placed behind the movie screen. If this sound is reproduced in the home theater without correction, the high-frequency range can be too strong. Denon amplifiers feature a Cinema Equalizer to correct these high-frequency components so that the sound is clearer and easier to listen to. Dolby Digital Dolby Digital is the multi-channel digital signal format developed by Dolby Laboratories. Dolby Digital consists of up to 5.1 channels – front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right, and an additional channel exclusively reserved for additional deep bass sound effects. Dolby Digitals main channels can all contain full range sound information, from the lowest bass, up to the highest frequencies – 22 kHz. The signals within each channel are distinct from the others, allowing pinpoint sound imaging and tremendous dynamic range from the most powerful sound effects to the quietest, softest sounds, free from noise and distortion.
Dolby Digital Plus
Next-generation multichannel audio format. Delivers up to 7.1 channels of better-than-DVD-quality surround sound in Blu-ray discs. Advanced coding efficiencies facilitate BD-Live and Bonusview playback and enable rich surround sound audio from digital broadcast,IPTV,and streamed and downloadable media.
Dolby Pro Logic IIx
Dolby Pro Logic IIx furthers the matrix decoding technology of Dolby Pro Logic II to decode audio signals recorded on two channels up to 7.1 playback channels, including the surround back channel. Dolby Pro Logic IIx also allows 5.1-channel sources to be played in up to 7.1 channels. The mode can be selected according to the source – Music mode is best suited for playing music, Cinema mode for playing movies, and Game mode for playing games. DTS 96/24 DTS-ES® is used to describe 6.1 channel extended surround sound. DTS Neo:6 is used to describe our matrix technology that takes any 2-channel source material and emulates an immersive surround sound experience using a multi-channel surround sound system. DTS 96/24 is used to describe the high resolution technology featuring 96 kHz sampling rate and 24-bit word length
dts Digital Surrounddts Digital Surround (also called simply dts) is a multi-channel digital signal format developed by Digital Theater Systems. dts is a 5.1-channel surround sound format that is available in movie theaters, and as an optional soundtrack on some DVD-Video movies for home theater viewing. The primary advantage of dts is that it offers higher data rates, leading many home theater enthusiasts to claim the sound quality for movie or music audio tracks to be closer to the original master recordings. dts-ES Extended Surround dts-ES Extended Surround is a new multi-channel digital signal format developed by Digital Theater Systems. Used professionally in movie theaters since 1999, dts-ES Extended Surround greatly improves the 360-degree surround impression and space expression thanks to further expanded surround signals. In addition to the 5.1 surround channels, dts-ES Extended Surround also offers Surround Back, sometimes also referred to as surround center channel for surround playback with a total of 6.1 channels. dts-ES Extended Surround includes two signal formats with different surround signal recording methods, dts-ES Discrete 6.1 and dts-ES™ Matrix 6.1. GLO-KEY Technology The keys on the remote control are made of fluorescent glow in the dark material to allow for easy use in dark rooms. On the remotes for the Denon amplifiers and DVD players, the important keys have been highlighted with the GLO-Key technology. Some of the remotes have also a backlight that illuminates the keys on touch of the remote. HD Radio Enables the reception of high-quality digital AM and FM stations. Broadcast simultaneously with traditional analog signals, HD Radio signals provide crystal-clear CD-quality sound, program information (e.g. artist, song title, station, etc.), and multiple channels of programming on the same FM frequency. HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) This is a digital interface standard for next generation television developed based on the DVI (Digital Visual Interface) used for computer displays and optimized for use in non-professional equipment. With it, non-compressed digital video and multi-channel audio signals can be transferred with a single connector, eliminating the need to use separate cables for picture and sound and making it possible to make connectors smaller. HDMI is compatible with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Contents Protection), a technology for protecting copyrights that encrypts digital video signals. Made For iPod The Made for iPod mark signifies that this product has been designed to work with iPod devices either through docking stations or connection cables. Available features will be dependant on the products used. Multi-Room Entertainment System Denons Multi Source function lets you select different audio sources for listening in different locations (some models may have volume adjust only for zone 2). Different sources can thus be enjoyed in the main room (MAIN) and sub-room(s) – ZONE 2, ZONE 3 or ZONE 4 – simultaneously (number of zones is model dependent). For additional information, check the instruction manual of the A/V receiver or power amplifier of interest for complete functionality. Personal Memory Plus
Personal Memory Plus is a function that allows a receiver to store the surround modes, the level setting for all speakers, and the delay time to further customize the sound source. With the push of a button, the receiver will be turned to the source of choice and the preset settings will be activated.
Audio Features7-Channel Amplifier: The Denon AVR-1911 features a 7-channel, equal power, discrete amplifier. Each channel is rated at 90 watts RMS. The seven amplifier channels built into the receiver are typically used for 7.1 channel surround in the main room, but there are various amplifier configurations to accommodate your home theater setup:
Minimum Signal Path Design: The simple & straight design concept has been thoroughly implemented in the signal paths to contribute to clean audio and video playback. Signal paths are as short as possible to keep signal degradation in the audio and video circuitry to a minimum. Direct Mechanical Ground Construction: Vibration-resistant construction has been used to suppress the adverse influences of vibration on sound quality. The power transformers, a source of vibration, have been securely mounted on the high rigid bottom chassis. Direct mounting of cast-iron feet to the radiator in near proximity to each other serves to suppress mutual vibration with the power transformers and other sources of vibration. Audyssey: This receiver is equipped with an Auto Setup and Room Equalization function to achieve the most ideal sound field for your room. The AVR-1911's Audyssey MultEQ function is designed to optimize the sound quality at each listening position in the room. The included DM-A409 microphone is used to measure test tones at each listening position (up to six positions including the main position). This measured data is then analyzed using a program to improve acoustic characteristics in the listening area; the main position is given more weight in the calculations. Audyssey EQ offers the following options:
Note: You can also setup your speaker system manually using the receiver. You can adjust speaker configuration (large/small/none), bass setting (LFE/LFE+Main), low-pass crossover (80/90/100/110/120/150/200/250Hz), speaker distance (0-60'), channel level (-12 to +12dB), and high-pass crossover frequency (40/60/80/90/100/110/120/150/200/250Hz) Surround Modes: This receiver incorporates a wide variety of surround modes to bring you maximum enjoyment from your audio and video software. The unit can be set to store the most recently selected surround mode for each input, so it is automatically activated each time the particular input is chosen. The surround modes include:
Surround Parameters: You can adjust the following surround mode parameters:
Multi-Zone/Multi-Source: Denon's Multi-Zone/Multi-Source function lets you select a different audio source for listening in a second location of your home. The AVR-1911 features a Main Zone (audio and video) and Zone2 (audio only). The Main Zone offers 7.1-channel playback of your audio/video gear in your main entertainment room. Zone2 allows stereo audio playback of another source connected to the receiver in another room of your home via left/right RCA audio or speaker level outputs. Only analog input sources can be played in Zone2. Note: Zone2 features either a preamp-output or speaker terminal output so you can use this amp or a separate amp to power speakers in another room. When using the AVR-1911 to power speakers in a second room of your home, the main zone is restricted to 5.1-channels. When using the receiver's preamp output terminals for the second room you need an additional amplifier to power those speakers and the main zone of the receiver remains 7.1-channel. Source Level: This function adjusts the playback level of the currently selected input source's audio input. Use this feature if there are differences in the input volume levels between different sources. You can correct the playback level of the audio input from -12 to +12dB. |
