Region Free 4K Blu-ray Players

region free 4k blu-ray playersIt's been awhile since 4k technology was first introduced on the market, but it wasn't until last year that the major brands began releasing their 4k Ultra-HD Blu-ray Players. As soon as they hit the shelves, specialty retailers began selling modified, region-free versions of these popular 4k Blu-ray machines to a specialized market of travelers, movie fans and anyone looking for a universally compatible movie experience.

Region Free 4k - What's the Difference?

It might not be obvious, but Blu-ray Players are actually quite limited in how they can be used. Manufacturers produce these players to be used in the country or region where they're sold, and not much more. A North American Blu-ray player can only play North American discs, operate at 110 - 120 volts, and only be used with a North American TV. If you're living in North America, there's really no problem. However, if you travel with your player or want to purchase foreign discs online, you're going to have problems.

Region Free 4k Blu-ray Players are the exact same players sold in major department stores, but they have the added benefit of global compatibility. These units are professionally modified to work with any voltage (110 - 240 volts), with any TV (whether PAL, SECAM or NTSC), and with discs from any region of the world (DVD regions 0-8 and Blu-ray regions A, B, and C) without hassle. It's a plug & play solution for using your player anywhere in the world to play any disc without using expensive converters and having a mess of extra cables.

You can choose from the same popular brands and models sold by major retailers - the only difference is that the Region Free unit is a more capable player.

Where to Buy a Region Free 4k Blu-ray Player

Again, we must note that Region Free 4k Blu-ray Players are not available at major retailers, and they can only be purchased from specialty stores. There is a lot of confusion as people see region free models advertised online and then expect that all players of that model are region free. You should not buy a player unless it's specifically advertised as being region-free, and sold by a retailer who performs these modifications to 4k Blu-ray Players.

With over 35 years of experience in selling international electronics and appliances, we are specialists in Region Free 4k Blu-ray Players. We stock a huge inventory of region-free players from the top brands, including high-end models from the finer names like Oppo, Denon and Pioneer. All of our players have been modified professionally and come with a warranty. They are easy to use, reliable, and can be used anywhere in the world, with any voltage, and nearly any TV. We ship anywhere in the world and best of all, we guarantee the lowest prices. Check out all of our Region Free 4k Players here and shop from the comfort of your own home.

Region Free 4k Blu-ray Players for Global Use

region free 4k blu-ray playersThe newest Blu-ray technology is here, and it's 4 times the resolution of 1080p HD. 4k resolution, also known as Ultra-HD (UHD), has been in the works for quite some time now. The technology has actually been readily available with TVs for a couple years now but the market for 4k Blu-ray Players and 4k discs was lagging far behind. While several manufacturers released players in the past with 4k upscaling, it wasn't true 4k resolution unless the disc and the Blu-ray player had the actual UHD format.

In the last year, three of the top manufacturers have released true Ultra-HD Blu-ray Players that perform in all their glory to deliver an astounding - and very lifelike - picture of 3840 x 2160 pixels. In unison with your 4k TV, you can now play 4k discs on a 4k Blu-ray player and experience the true, intended quality of Ultra-HD.

What's more than the ever increasing availability of 4k Blu-ray disc titles and 4k Blu-ray Players? Region Free 4k Blu-ray Players. If you're not familiar with the term, let me break it down for you as quickly as possible. All discs are coded to play only in players purchased from the same region where discs are sold. Chinese Blu-ray and DVDs are not compatible with North American or European players and vice-versa. If you want to watch discs from other countries, you'll need a Region Free player. Furthermore, Region Free 4k Blu-ray players are compatible with any electrical voltage, allowing you to use the player anywhere in the world without a voltage converter. They even feature internal Pal/NTSC conversion which eliminates the need to use an external video converter for foreign TVs. In all reality, the Region Free 4k Blu-ray Player is a truly global player. It works universally, with any TV, at any voltage, to play any disc from anywhere in the world.

Although there's only a few true 4k Blu-ray players on the market, it's already possible to purchase the Region Free models from reputable retailers such as ourselves. Our Region-Free 4k Blu-ray Players are not available in stores. Each and every unit has been professionally modified for worldwide voltage and region-free playback. Essentially these are the same exact brands and models you'd buy in a department store, only ours have been tuned and modified for high-performance and global functionality. If you have a 4k TV and are looking for the best picture quality currently available for your home theater, we have it.

It's finally here! The Region Free Samsung UBD-K8500 4K Blu-ray Player

region free samsung ubd-k8500 4k blu-ray playerIt's been a long time in the making, but Samsung has finally released the world's first 4K Blu-ray Player. Prior to its release, the only 4k available in Blu-ray was an up-scaling option that many manufacturers offer - a higher resolution than 1080p HD, but still not true 4K resolution.

With the release of the Samsung UBD-K8500 several weeks ago, there is finally something to play the growing number of 4K Blu-ray titles that have been released lately. Also, something to pair with the 4K TVs that have been on the market for well over a year. We're finally able to experience true 4K Blu-ray in all its glory, which is great news. In addition, there are plenty of other great features packed into the UBD-K8500. It's on the cutting edge of technology from every aspect, and definitely something you'll want to pick up if you're interested in experiencing home cinema like never before.

The player we sell here at 220 Electronics is a region-free model. If you're not familiar with that term, it means this player isn't locked to a specific region of disc playback. Most players only play discs from their region. For example, Blu-ray discs imported from Europe or Japan will not play on a North American player, and vice-versa. Region Free Samsung UBD-K8500 4K Blu-ray Player will play Blu-ray discs and DVDs from anywhere in the world, from all regions. On top of that, it features dual voltage. Since the standard voltage (electricity at the outlet) varies from continent to continent and often country to country, most players are no good overseas or in foreign countries. With our Region Free Samsung UBD-K8500, you can use it at any voltage. This means it will work in any country, or onboard your RV or Boat. It's a very flexible player that can be taken anywhere and can play any disc. Keep in mind, retailers do not sell the Region Free model and you won't find it in Wal-mart or Best Buy.

The UBD-K8500 is also equipped with 3D playback. If you own a 3D TV, you can watch 3D Blu-ray titles in the convenience of your home and experience that surreal depth that at one time was only available in theaters. While there's not an abundance of 3D titles out, there's surely enough to enjoy and more are being released each day. It's a great feature to have for anyone interested in the 3D experience.

One of the most important features for most people, including ourselves is Wi-Fi. The UBD-K8500 has it built-in so you can connect to the internet easily and without messy cables. (If you prefer to have a wired connection, it does feature an ethernet port for optimal speeds and the most secure connection.) Connecting to the internet and your home network opens up a world of possibilities with the UBD-K8500. From streaming media services like Netflix, Hulu and Pandora to its DLNA capability that makes it easy to share media from any wireless device in your home, it's something we have a hard time living without. You can connect wirelessly to the music or movies on your laptop and play them right on your surround sound or TV screen within seconds - that's a valuable feature all by itself. Furthermore, screen mirroring gives you the option of sharing your smartphone or tablet's screen on your TV for easily watching videos or sharing pictures. It's really unlimited what you can do. Any media, from any device in your home can be shared with this player. This really minimizes the need for cables, converters, discs, USB drives, etc. and makes life both easier and more enjoyable.

As far as handling audio & video, the Region Free Samsung UBD-K8500 does an excellent job. It handles a wide variety of popular video formats such as MPEG, MKV, WMV, AVI, and AVCHD and plays all major disc formats including UHD BD-ROM, BD-ROM, 3D-BD, BD-R, BD-RE, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW. It also handles popular audio formats such as MP3, WMA, AAC, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, and OGG.

If you plan to use the K8500 with surround sound, you'll be pleased to know that the UHD-8500 features multi-channel (up to 7.1) high-definition audio decoding for Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS HD High Resolution, and DTS-HD Master Audio. You're getting the world's best resolution of 4K Ultra-HD, plus world class audio to match!

Some other notable features of the Region Free UBD-K8500 include:

• CD to MP3 Ripping, which lets you turn your music CDs into digital MP3 files with the use of a USB storage device.

• Dual HDMI Outputs for optimal connectivity.

• Frontal USB port for easy access.

• Wi-Fi Direct, which allows you to connect to wireless devices via Bluetooth. This means there's no need for internet use to share & play files between devices.

Samsung really did a great job with this model. From 4K and 3D to a world of streaming and wireless possibilities, you'll have an endless source of entertainment and playback options. And thanks to its Region Free capabilities, you can take the player anywhere and play discs from all over the world. It's impressive to say the least. For more information or to get your own, Samsung UBD-K8500 Region Free Blu-ray Player. It's a solid choice for anyone who wants the best Blu-ray Technology available.

Region-Free 4k UHD Blu-ray Players: Fact or Fiction?

region free 4k ultra hd blu-ray playersUpdated: 01/31/2020

Now that 4k is really starting to explode in popularity, we feel that it's important for us to cover the basics about 4k UHD Blu-ray Players, including their region-free capabilities. As region-free specialists, it's our duty to get this information out there so consumers can make informed decisions about their purchases; more importantly, so they can be sure they're getting the product & features that they're looking for and expect.

There have been a lot of misconception floating around the web regarding the idea that all 4k UHD Blu-ray Players are region-free. How did these rumors start and what are the facts? We're not sure exactly how they started, but let's take a closer look at the facts.

Also read our related article on the Current Best Region Free 4K Blu-ray Players!

What is Region-Free?

By default, most Blu-ray Discs and DVDs utilize a special region coding within disc. What this coding does is provide information that's read by the Blu-ray or DVD Player to determine if the disc is compatible with the player. Around the world, Blu-ray Discs and DVDs from specific regions are embedded with a code that is native to that region only. Likewise, most Blu-ray and DVD Players around the world are designed to only play discs that are encoded for the local region. For example, a Blu-ray Player sold in the United States is only setup to read and play discs sold in the United States. A Blu-ray Player from Asia is only setup to read and play discs sold in Asia. Attempting to play a disc from Asia in a Blu-ray Player purchased in the United States will result in an error message, and the disc simply will not play. The player is reading the disc, recognizing that it's from a different region and determining that the disc is incompatible.

The reasons for region-coding discs are many, but to keep it simple and understandable, the main reason for region-coding is that movies are not always released at the same times around the world. In some countries, movies are still being shown in the theaters while other countries already have them on Blu-ray. In order to protect profits and ensure that people aren't importing discs from overseas before movies are in theaters, the production and distribution companies (in conjunction with electronics manufacturers) developed region-coding.

Region-coding works as follows: Blu-ray discs feature 3 separate regions - A, B, and C. On the other hand, DVDs feature 9 different regions - 0 through 8. You can see a region-code map here for more information. The only discs that will play on your player are the discs sold in the same region where your player was bought; and the only way around this is to purchase a region-free Blu-ray player. But we'll get to that later.

Are all 4K UHD Blu-ray Players Region-Free?

No, and this is where the misconception and misinformation come into play. For some reason, manufacturers have decided not to code 4K discs by region. In other words, if you have a 4K movie title, it should play in any 4K player, regardless of what country the disc came from. However, this is only true for 4K discs. Any other disc, such as a non-4K Blu-ray or a DVD, will not play in the 4K player.

The rumors that have been circulating claim that all 4K UHD Blu-ray Players are region-free. This has created a lot of debate and confusion, and it also has many consumers deciding that they need to purchase a new 4K UHD Blu-ray Player so they can watch movies from anywhere in the world. Again, this could not be further from the truth.

A real region-free player will play any disc, from anywhere in the world. The ability of 4k Players to play any 4K disc does not make the player region-free. In fact, as 4k becomes more widespread on the global marketplace, the discs may very well be region-coded. For all we know, the only reason these discs aren't being coded as of yet is to help promote growth of 4K technology - nothing more than a marketing tactic. While we cannot verify the reasoning behind 4K being regionless, we can definitely assure you that a 4K Player will not play standard Blu-ray or DVD discs from any region.

Region-Free 4K, Blu-ray and DVD Players

The only way to ensure that you can play any disc - be it 4K, Blu-ray or DVD - from any region in the world is to purchase a Region-Free 4K Blu-ray Player. These units are not available in stores, and they're sold only through retailers who specialize in Region-Free electronics. These specialty retailers professionally modify their units and carry the same exact models as major retailers.

One of the biggest problems is that people will see a specific brand & model of Blu-ray Player being sold by a Region-Free retailer and assume that they can purchase that same model from Best Buy and it too, will be region-free. These people will then purchase foreign discs and attempt to play them, only to realize that the player is not region-free, leaving them in a state of confusion. The ONLY way to get a region-free model is to purchase one from a region-free retailer.

As specialists in region-free electronics and with over 35 years in the industry, we hope that this article was able to help clear up some of the confusion. While we'd hope that anyone who is looking to shop for a region-free player would purchase one from us, we're more concerned with spreading correct information. The bottom line is that there's only one way to acquire a true Region-Free 4K Blu-ray Player: By purchasing one from a reputable, region-free retailer.

Multisystem Smart TVs: 4k, 3D, Wi-Fi and More

multisystem smart tvsIn the last few years we've seen many interesting advancements in TV technology. The introduction of Smart TVs into the market was the beginning of big change; namely the ability to incorporate your theater system into your home network (or vice versa), allowing for endless opportunities to share, sync, record, and upload all types of media - from your favorite movies to your music playlists, photo albums and more. What seemed impossible just 10 years ago is not only possible, it's now commonplace.

The widespread use of smartphones over the last decade has resulted in a seemingly effortless ability to snap pictures, record video and share media on the go. But what good is this tech if it's limited to the smartphone??? Manufacturers began to take note of this, and in response they developed a whole new breed of TV to compliment the growing arena of mobile technology and on-demand media.

While the Smart TV isn't necessarily breaking news, the technology continues to advance as top manufacturers continue to fine-tune their devices, employ improved features, and develop more effective user interfaces for consumers to enjoy. What began as TVs with semi-functional web browsers and a handful of hardly useful features has progressed into built-in Wi-Fi, thousands of apps, and the ability to use your smartphone to control your home theater from anywhere in your house. While some features are more useful than others, one thing is for sure - Smart TVs are here to stay, and they're only going to get better.

While there's literally been an explosion of new features, there are a few major factors contributing to the growing success of the Smart TV. Let's take a look at them and how they've changed the home theater experience forever.

Built In Wi-Fi

One of the biggest advancements of all, built in Wi-Fi is responsible for the majority of a Smart TV's cutting edge features. When TVs first began to utilize internet connections, they were hardwired with an ethernet connection. While this was a neat feature to have, it was hardly a game changer. Limiting the user to web browsing and other basic tasks which were often painfully slow when compared to an actual computer, it lent very little in the realm of productivity.

When Smart TVs began to feature built in Wi-Fi, it opened the doors for endless functionality. Combined with bluetooth, users can now send all types of media wirelessly across their home network, from their mobile devices to their TV with as little as a few clicks. Massive music libraries can be accessed from your TV screen and played on premium quality surround sound systems without the use of cables or adapters. Pictures from your recent vacation can be viewed by the whole family on a 60-inch screen. Instead of using your small mobile screen to show your friends that hilarious video you took, you can mirror it directly to your TV in high definition. You can even make video calls (with apps like Skype) to friends or family overseas directly from your TV - something we previously could only dream of.

Although a wireless connection to the internet hardly seems like groundbreaking technology, it's paved the way for a new era in how we interact with our TV. If you want flexibility, ease of use, and access to the biggest & best selection of media & apps, built in Wi-Fi is a must have.

3D Technology

One of the most interesting feats in recent years is the explosion of 3D TVs into the home theater market. What used to be reserved for multi-million dollar IMAX theaters is now available right in your living room, delivering a rich, in-depth cinema experience that puts you closer to the action than ever before.

Since production companies began to collaborate with TV and Blu-ray manufacturers, 3D movie titles have become more widely available and are now a favorite of many movie fans, especially for fast-paced, graphic packed action and adventure films.

While the 3D TV experience requires the use of special glasses (usually included with the TV), it doesn't allow you to watch just anything in 3D. To enjoy this technology, you'll need to watch media that's been filmed & formatted for 3D. In other words, you can't simply watch football, the news, or your normal cable channels in 3D. On the upside, some of the most visually rich films of recent years (including many children's titles) are available for purchase in 3D Blu-ray format and an increasing number of specialty cable channels and streaming media services are beginning to offer 3D media for your viewing enjoyment.

4K Ultra-HD

One of the newest and most promising developments in the world of TV is the 4K Ultra-HD TV. The standard for as long as we can remember - 1080p HD - is now taking a backseat to the unfathomable clarity and depth offered by 4K resolution. The new 3840 x 2160 pixel format translates to double the resolution of standard HD, causing many to react with excitement and disbelief at how the crystal clear image produced by 1080P HD and Blu-ray technology could possibly be improved upon.

While 4k technology has been available to the consumer for nearly 2 years, it got off to a rather slow start - mainly due to the lack of supporting media available for purchase. However, as film makers and production companies realized the demand for titles in 4K resolution, they began to deliver. Today, more and more movie titles are being offered in 4K and several major cable providers - as well as TV networks - have began to offer 4K services to their customers.

One of the current issues with 4K Ultra HD is the delivery of content via streaming media services. With double the resolution of standard HD comes double the data. This means that your internet needs to transfer twice as much information. This can often be problematic for streaming services that buffer media and allow you to watch while the remainder is being downloaded in real-time. In recent months this issue is being dealt with via a variety of methods, including increased internet speeds for 4K use. So while your favorite youtube videos aren't yet available in 4K, the movie industry and many sports networks are already offering 4K Ultra HD in full swing. As 4K continues to develop in popularity and availability, it's going to leave 1080p as nothing but a distant memory. If you're in the market for a new TV, now's the time to make sure you purchase a 4k model.

Multisystem TVs

With all the new technology available, it's a shame that the one thing manufacturers aren't offering is a TV that can be used anywhere in the world. While it might seem like a trivial request to many people, we're living in a world where flexibility is paramount and international business has made travel into a lifestyle for many. Furthermore, the ability to research and communicate globally has ushered in a new generation of travelers and expatriates whose homes and destinations are often overseas. But what is one to do when their new TV isn't compatible in another country??? This issue is easily resolved and avoided with the purchase of a multi-system TV.

Multisystem models are professionally modified units that are compatible with any voltage, from 110 volts to 240 volts. They also work with all major color systems such as PAL, NTSC and Secam, which means they'll work with a foreign cable box or Blu-ray player. There's no special adapters or converters necessary, everything comes built in to the unit. At a price not much higher than a normal TV and with all the standard features and capabilities of a Smart TV, a multisystem unit is an excellent investment for anyone planning to travel or relocate overseas. These models are also ideal for RVs and yachts, which generally operate with 220-volt electricity. They offer an unparallelled value and guaranteed compatibility, no matter where your travels take you.

Multisystem 4k Ultra-HD. What, when, why and how?

multisystem 4k ultra hd tvSo you've been hearing all about it - 4k Ultra-HD, also known as UHD. What is it? Can the resolution really be 4 times better than 1080p HD? What type of technology is involved in a 4k TV? I haven't seen any 4k Blu-ray Discs for sale - why not? Is 4k UHD technology compatible with older movies?

What is 4k Ultra-HD?

4k Ultra HD is the newest high-resolution format for TV. Taking a major step up from the traditional 1080p, 4k improves the screen resolution by using more pixels, which means you're getting a picture that has more information or more pieces. This results in smoother transitions of color, more precise details and an overall better picture. A great example would be to think of old video games and how they were very choppy and pixelated compared to video games today which seem quite realistic - this is because the video games of today have a much higher resolution.

While 1080p HD may seem as perfect as a picture could possibly get, 4K Ultra-HD takes it a step further by using 3,840 pixels horizontally and 2,160 pixels vertically (3,840 x 2,160). 1080p Full HD only uses 1,920 pixels horizontally and 1,080 vertically (1,920 x 1,080), which means that 4k Ultra-HD is twice the resolution.

Is 4k Ultra-HD Readily Available?

As of right now, 4k is widely available. While there is still a ton of room for growth and while the majority of media is not currently broadcast in 4k, we're seeing more and more use of 4k each and every day. Cable providers offer 4k sports & movie channels, most blu-ray titles are now available in 4k resolution and Apple just released their latest iPhone with 4k video camera. While you might not see the nightly news in 4k Ultra-HD, you can most likely find the latest movie titles in 4k. It's also becoming more common with TV and Blu-ray manufacturers. At first, 4k playback was a major feature to have but today it's easy to find this feature on most 4k Ultra-HD TVs and 4k Blu-ray Players. If you're a movie fan, you're definitely going to want to invest in a 4k TV and Blu-ray player, as it's sure to be the new standard for many years to come.

Why do I Need a 4k TV?

The simple answer is that you don't - just like you don't need 1080p HD to watch a movie. But if you want the best experience available, 4k is a must have. As movies continue to evolve, we're seeing faster action scenes, more special effects, more intense scenes with vivid colors and complex lighting and improved filming methods that make for an overall better and more realistic cinema experience. If you're watching the newest movies on a HD TV, you're missing out on the full experience. In 4k, you're going to see each and every detail just as the film-makers intended it to be. The rich colors, deep tones, lightning fast action scenes and broad spectrums of light that really make the viewing experience as enjoyable as possible. Simply put, 4k Ultra-HD offers the best viewing experience available.
