Your next question is probably going to be: "What difference does it make if I have a 10mb Pal to NTSC converter or a 12 or even a 16MB converter?  That is probably the single most important thing you need to look at when purchasing a Code Free DVD Player that converts Pal to NTSC. You need to be very careful when comparing models, as all Code Free DVD Players / (Region Free DVD Players) are modified to be code free and have a Pal to NTSC converter built in. If the company you purchase from doesn't offer a lifetime guarantee like we do and doesn't say how many MB there video converters are you may not be comparing apples to apples. When purchasing a player from us you can rest assured that we use the highest quality of parts for our modifications, and we guarantee them for life.  Pal is the standard of broadcasting used in almost all the countries except for North America. Therefore if you are looking to view DVD movies from another country in the USA, they are most likely to be in the Pal format. In order to view Pal movies on a Standard TV in the USA (NTSC TV) you will need the DVD player to convert the Pal Signal to NTSC. The amount of (Megabits) MB used in the converter determines how your picture will look when you are playing movies that are Pal on your NTSC (North American) standard TV. We normally recommend at least a 8MB video converter.  If your TV is less than 27" big usually a 8mb or 10MB converter is enough to get a good picture quality.  For TVs that are 27"- 34" we normally recommend at least a 12MB video converter. And for all HD tv's, and Large screen TVs over 34" we recommend a 14MB or 16MB video converter.  If you are picky about the picture quality, going with a  16MB video converter will never hurt no matter how small your TV is.  Please remember not all code free modification are the same. When buying a dvd player modified by us, you can rest assured that the modification has been performed with the best chipsets and latest technology. That's why we can offer a lifetime all region guarantee on our modifications.  If you have a newer HDTV with DVI or HDMI inputs, please also look at dvd players with HDMI or DVI outputs to give you the best picture quality.

What's the difference between the Toshiba SD-741, Toshiba SD3980, and the Toshiba Sd-3960..  which one is better?

After many many phone calls about this questions, we have decided to post it on our site. The Toshiba SD-3960 is a higher end model than the Toshiba SD-3980. The Toshiba SD-3960 is a slightly taller in Height compare the the 3980. The features are pretty much the same, but the build quality and parts used inside the player are better on the SD-3960. After opening the players up, we found there to be much more plastic used in the 3980 where more metal was used to build the 3960. The 3960 also had slightly a sharper image quality when connected to the tv. Overall it is a much better unit for picture quality, durability then the Toshiba SD-3980. The Toshiba SD-741 is a even cheaper player then the SD-3980. This player has had a lot of performance issues so we do not recommend it.

Why does the better player have a lower model number??

This is a question for Toshiba. We really don' t know the answer to this one. However if you don't want to take our word for it, you can go to Toshiba's website, and you will see that the price on the SD-3960 is higher then the 3980. Please remember our price will be higher then the Toshiba website for both models, because our players are modified to be region free, so you can playback foreign movies.

Looking for an affordable DVD player? Don't settle for a no-name brand — This Toshiba DVD Player is an excellent choice for playing back DVD movies from anywhere in the world on a standard USA TV.  This sleek, stylish player delivers lots of entertainment value: you get a crisp, clean picture with your DVD movies, and excellent sound from your music CDs, too. With it's proven quality and construction it produces an excellent quality picture. They are equipped with a Hardware progressive scan chip which is rare to see in newer players. This Toshiba dvd players offers a far better picture quality then the cheaper competitors such as the Philips, Akai, Daewoo, JWIN, and Coby dvd players.
