component video output allows the highest quality signal to be
sent from your DVD player to your TV. When this connection is
utilized, typical NTSC artifacts (like video noise and dot
crawl) are virtually eliminated, resulting in a low-noise,
highly detailed picture with unequaled color purity. Digital
Cinema Progressive (3:2 Pulldown) delivers the smoothest, most
film-like images to any progressive scan television, such as an
HD-compatible one, and ensures maximum resolution. |

TosLink Digital Audio Outputs send the audio signal to an
audio/video receiver in its digital form, allowing access to the
Dolby Digital or DTS sound track encoded on the DVD disc. The
Dialogue Expansion system (E.A.M.) offers three audio-enhancing
modes: NORMAL; 3-D provides virtual surround sound from
two-speaker playback systems via Spatializer N-2-2; and DIALOGUE
enhances center channel frequencies during playback of Dolby
Digital encoded discs via the analog audio outputs. This is
perfect for times when you need to keep the volume low, but
still want to hear what is being said. |

|
| With the JPEG Viewer
you can display your digital photographs (JPEG format) on your
TV. An intuitive onscreen display is there to assist you in
creating customizes slideshows with a few simple clicks of the
DVD player's remote control. The 16x Power Zoom lets you select
an area of the picture and zoom in on it. You can also use the
Power Zoom to expand letterbox-only films to increase the
viewable area onscreen. Enhanced digital processing known as
3D-DNR reduces random noise in DVD images. It does this by
comparing the present frame to the previous and succeeding
frames. Unmatched information that is above a certain level is
identified as video noise and removed. This improves the picture
quality of Video CDs, poorly mastered DVD films, and images
viewed in Zoom mode. |

Code free / Region
free:
This dvd player is modified to play all region discs. With this dvd
player you can play your favorite movies from any country.
PAL playback on
NTSC TV:
This is a special feature available on very few DVD players. Most other
region free players will play back all region discs but if the disc is
Pal you will not be able to play it on a normal American (NTSC) TV. This
dvd player will play any disc on an NTSC (American) TV. Unlike many
DVD players with a built in converter, this DVD player will not stretch
Pal widescreen DVD movies when playing on an NTSC TV.
Progressive
Scan:
The dvd player has true progressive scan which provides best
picture quality into a HDTV. Also has 3/2 Pull Down. Also provides
excellent picture quality on a regular non HDTV. Uses a high end
hardware progressive scan chip. This DVD player may be set to
output a progressive scan or interlaced video signal from component
video output. Instead of splitting each video frame into two sequential
fields like interlaced scan, progressive scan displays the entire frame
in a single sweep. Where a standard DVD player's 480i output displays 30
frames (60 fields) per second, a progressive-scan player's 480p output
displays 60 full frames per second. Progressive-scan picture quality is
more film-like, with more fine detail and less flicker. Progressive-scan
viewing requires an "HDTV-ready" TV.
MP3
Player
Yes, for the music lovers. You can record hours of music on one disc and
play it in this dvd player. Hundreds of songs can fit on cd-rom in the
MP3 format. You can now hook this up to your music system and listen to
hours of music all from one disc.
Variable Aspect Ratios
This CODE FREE Progressive scan DVD PLAYER will output video
in 4:3, letterbox and 16:9 aspect ratios.
Camera Angles
Scenes that make up a movie
may be shot from multiple camera angles, each providing a unique
perspective of the program. DVD will allow, at the director's
discretion, up to nine different camera angles to be recorded on a disc,
enabling the viewer to select the angle they desire. This option will
add interactivity to movies, sporting events and instructional videos.
High-Bit/High Sampling Video D/A Converter: This
player uses a 12-bit/108MHz video D/A converter video digital-to-analog
converter, which reduces digital artifacts for a excellent picture.
Scanning Mode Switch: This switch, located on the rear panel,
allows you to choose whether the component video output is progressive
scan (480p) or interlaced scan (480i). When you position the switch to
the "Remote" position, you can choose progressive scan or
interlaced scan from the remote control.
Built-In Dolby Digital/DTS Decoding:
This unit is equipped with DTS and Dolby Digital decoders. 5.1
multi-channel analog audio outputs are on the rear of the unit and
connect to a compatible amplifier/receiver with 5.1 channel inputs.
Although multi-channel audio from a DVD-Audio disc can be heard only
when this unit's 5.1 channel outputs are connected to a component with
5.1 channel inputs, this unit can be set to down-mix multi-channel audio
to stereo audio for playback through a stereo amplifier, TV or other
non-multi-channel receiver.
On-Screen Display: The on-screen menu language can
be set to English, French, or Spanish. The display works for DVD video
discs and audio CDs, letting you perform numerous functions, including
track programming.
MP3 Playback: This unit will play MP3 audio recorded onto CD-R
and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 format. Although the front panel
display will not show file names, the file names can be shown using the
on-screen display. During MP3 playback, rapid forward/reverse
playback is not available, tracks cannot be played back in random or
programmed order, and the unit does not output a digital audio signal
from the digital outputs.
JPEG Digital Still Playback: This DVD player will playback
JPEG digital still files that are on CD-R or CD-RW discs. Like MP3
files, the CD-R and CD-RW discs must be recorded using the ISO 9660
format. While viewing JPEG digital stills, you can zoom in or out on an
image, or present them in a slide show fashion. Note: This unit
will only recognize baseline JPEG files, which is the format used by
digital cameras, camcorders, the web, etc. If you have a disc that
contains both MP3 and JPEG files, you have to choose which files you
want to work with by going into the menu select and choosing either
"MP3" or "JPEG".
3D
Phonic Surround Sound: When
playing a Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Digital disc, this feature allows you
to obtain a surround sound effect from only two speakers. You may select
one of the following modes: Action, Drama, or Theater.
Zoom: The zoom feature allows you to increase or decrease the
image size. Each time the zoom button is pressed, the picture sized is
doubled (Zoom +) or halved (Zoom --). You may move the picture around
the screen while it is enlarged to locate a specific area. You may also
zoom in to 1024x or zoom out to 1/8x.
Multi-Angle Display: This function allows you to choose the
viewing angle of scenes, which were shot from a number of different
angles. Note: This function is limited to DVDs recorded with
multiple camera angles.
Digest Function: The
Digest function allows the unit to display the opening scene of each
title or chapter on a DVD disc, or the opening scene of each track on a
Video CD. It will display up to nine chapters at a time.
Strobe Function: The
Strobe function allows you to display a series of nine consecutive still
pictures. You can advance the images by pressing the "Play"
button while in Strobe mode.
Video Fine Processor [VFP]: You
can adjust the picture character according to the type of programming,
picture tone, or personal preferences. There are four presets: NORMAL,
CINEMA, USER 1, and USER 2. NORMAL and CINEMA are factory presets and
cannot be adjusted. USER 1 and USER 2 have the following adjustable
parameters that can be stored:
- Gamma
(Controls the brightness of neutral tints while maintaining the
brightness of dark and bright portions)
- Brightness
- Contrast
- Saturation
(Controls the color depth of the screen)
- Tint
- Sharpness
- Y Delay
(Controls the color gap of the screen)
Speaker Setup: The
Speaker Setting page of the menu allows you to indicate the
configuration of your speaker system. Normally you would indicate
"5.1 CH" when connecting this unit to a 5.1 channel receiver
or amplifier. You can, however, fine tune the settings by selecting the
"Expert" mode. In the Expert mode, you can set the size, delay
and level of the subwoofer and the front, rear and center speakers.
One Touch Replay: During
playback of a DVD-Video disc, you can press the Play button to repeat
the previous 10 seconds of the current scene or chapter. This is helpful
if you miss a line of dialog or lyric from a song and want a quick way
to repeat a short section.
Disc Resume/Resume Play:
This feature allows you to resume playback of a disc from the point
where you last stopped. The stopping point will be saved even if the
power is turned off. When activated, the Disc Resume memory can store
the resume point for up to 30 discs.
Repeat Play: The "Repeat A-B" function
allows you to select any portion of a DVD, Video CD or Audio CD and have
it repeat until the unit is manually stopped. When playing a DVD, you
can repeat the current title or the current chapter. When playing a
Video CD or an Audio CD, you can repeat the current track or the entire
disc.
Fast Search:
There are five fast-play speeds in both forward and reverse: 2X, 5X,
10X, 20X and 60X the normal speed.
Slow Motion: When playing a DVD or Video CD, you may move
forward or backward through the program being played in one of six slow
motion speeds: 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 the normal speed.
Parental Lock: This
function restricts playback of DVD Video discs which contain violent and
other types of content, according to the level set by the user. For
example, if a movie containing violent scenes supports the parental lock
feature, such scenes can be cut or replaced with other scenes. You can
select a parental control rating from 0-8, which is protected by a
4-digit password. Discs rated higher than the selected level are
restricted.
Digital Audio Output: You
can select what kind of signal is passed through the unit's digital
outputs. You can select PCM only, Stream/PCM (used when connecting the
unit to a component with both DTS and Dolby Digital decoding) or Dolby
Digital/PCM (used when connecting this unit to a component with Dolby
Digital decoding, but no DTS decoder).
Screen Saver:
The unit's screen saver protects against screen burnout by
darkening the picture after a static picture is displayed for
approximately 5 minutes. This function can be turned on or off through
the menu.
Auto Standby:
The unit will go into standby mode when it is not being operated or it
is sitting in stop mode for a selectable amount of time. You can choose
30 minutes, 60 minutes, or turn the Auto Standby mode off.
