Power supply upgrade to
maximum enhancement of stable sound and picture quality
-
Diodes, Transistors,
Capacitors, and Resistors have been upgraded for optimal
durability as well as picture and sound quality.
Most manufacturers are trying to reduce costs
by using the cheapest parts available. We go into this unit
and change out many parts in the player which increases the
picture quality. Although the picture is really excellent on
a standard version 1 of this player, the Version 2 gives an
even better picture. We normally recommend this for people
that really want the BEST picture quality. The most
noticeable differences will appear on screen 50" or larger.
-
HDCP disabled,
which means this player is compatible with those TVs and
Projectors that don't have HDCP.

Play Any DVD on Any Normal USA (NTSC) TV
Guaranteed. No special TV required
Please note that many people sell these players
cheaper with inferior Pal to NTSC converters. We can not match
their prices.
Even if you don't yet own a HD or HD ready TV,
this dvd player is a excellent choice to use with any TV, and you
will not need to replace it when and if you replace your current
TV.
Why buy a High Definition dvd
player?
As Video technology progresses, we have any now entered
into a age of High Definition Video.
Almost all new TVs are High Definition Ready, (HD Ready or HD
compatible). Although most of us have purchased these new TVs,
many of us have not upgraded our DVD players. This is really a
shame because those of us are not utilizing our TVs to their full
potential. Buying a DVD player that is High Definition will allow
you to receive Video in High Definition outputs such as 720P,
768P, & 1080i. These output offer a much much clearer, sharper
image, with less artifacts. If you don't already have a HD ready
TV, then your next TV will probably be HD or HD ready. In my
opinion, using a regular progressive scan dvd player with a HD TV
is like putting regular fuel into a Race car! It just doesn't make
sense. So, to watch your dvd movies with the best picture quality
on your TV, we recommend to go with a Hi Definition player that
up-converts the signal to 720p, 768p, or 1080i.
|
Your next question is probably going to be: "What difference
does it make if I have a 10mb Pal to NTSC converter or a 12
or even a 16MB converter? That is
probably the single most important thing you need to look at
when purchasing a Code Free DVD Player that converts. You
need to be very careful when comparing models, as all Code
Free DVD Players / Region Free DVD Players are modified to
be code free and convert. If the company you purchase from
doesn't offer a lifetime guarantee like we do and doesn't
say how many MB there video converters are you may not be
comparing apples to apples. When purchasing a player from us
you can rest assured that we use the highest quality of
parts for our modifications, and we guarantee them for
life. Pal is the standard of broadcasting used in
almost all the countries except for North America. Therefore
if you are looking to view DVD movies from another country
in the USA there are most likely to be in the Pal format.
Therefore you will need the DVD player to convert the Pal
Signal to NTSC. The amount of (Megabits) MB used in the
converter determines how your picture will look when you are
playing movies that are Pal on your NTSC (North American)
standard TV. We normally recommend
at least a 8MB video converter. If your TV is less than 27"
big usually a 8mb or 10MB converter is enough to get a good
picture quality. For TVs that are 27"- 34" we normally
recommend at least a 12MB video converter. And for all HD
tv's, and Large screen TVs over 34" we recommend a 14MB or
more video converter. If you are picky about the picture
quality, going with a 14MB video converter will never hurt
no matter how small your TV is. If you have a newer HDTV
with DVI or HDMI inputs, please also look at dvd players on
our main page with HDMI or DVI outputs to give you the best
picture quality.

If
you're after state-of-the-art picture and sound, Samsung's DVD-HD941 is
a prime candidate for your home theater. The DVD player packs everything
from Faroudja DCDi-enhanced HD component-video and HDMI digital-video
outputs to sophisticated high-definition upconversion (for
high-definition and HD-ready TVs) and processing abilities for the
audio-only SACD (Super Audio CD) and DVD-Audio formats.
|
|
DCDi technology offers higher resolution and
sharper images, with few motion artifacts.
|
The player uses Faroudja's DCDi (Directional
Correlation Deinterlacing) technology, which is designed to eliminate
the jagged edges along diagonal image lines resulting from video
interpolation. DCDi monitors image-edge transitions and fills in the
gaps between frames. The player upconverts standard-definition material
(480i, what we have on conventional TV) to enhanced- and high-definition
quality (480p, 720p, 768p, or 1080i, depending on your HDTV). The
result: higher resolution from conventional sources and sharper images
with few motion artifacts. The player's HDMI digital-video output may be
used for lossless video transmission between the player and compatible
TVs and computer monitors, and the player comes with an HDMI-to-DVI
converter for use with DVI-compliant devices.
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a
lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any
audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or A/V receiver)
with an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (DTV).
HDMI supports SD, ED, or high-definition (HD) video, plus multichannel
digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV
standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to
spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.
SACD and DVD-Audio media both offer
super-high-fidelity sound. DVD-Audio discs provide 192 kHz/24-bit
multichannel and stereo sound, high storage capacity, and unique bonus
materials not available on regular audio CDs. These discs often have
compressed Dolby Digital soundtracks for listening on standard DVD
players, but true DVD-A decoding is required for full sonic
appreciation. Depending on the disc, Sony's proprietary SACD format
provides multichannel and/or stereo sound, often presented in a
dual-layer format compatible with both standard CD players (at standard
resolution) and SACD-equipped players like the DVD-HD941 (for
full-resolution playback).
As an antipiracy measure, the DVD-HD941 performs
its own decoding of both DVD-Audio and SACD signals, passing
high-resolution analog, not digital, audio to your integrated amplifier
or surround receiver. This means you'll need an audio/video receiver
with multichannel analog-audio inputs to appreciate multichannel DVD-A
and SACD releases.
A set of stereo and a set of multichannel
analog-audio outputs route audio from DVD-A/SACD media as well as from
Dolby Digital- and DTS-encoded DVDs to you’re A/V receiver. If you're
not planning to use the DVD-A/SACD capability for multichannel
programming, both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound
signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one
each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for simpler connection with
your receiver. Composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with
nearly any television. |
Features
Thorough
Vibration-resistant Design: A variety of designs have been
incorporated to suppress unwanted vibrations. The pickup mechanism is
positioned at the center to reduce the effects of external vibrations.
The DVD mechanism section in the main chassis has been divided in a
two box construction to further protect it from vibrations.
DCDi By
Faroudja: Progressive Scan technology is powered by the latest
DCDi by Faroudja FLI-2310 decoding engine for the finest processing of
film, video, graphics, or mixed-mode content.
MP3/WMA
Playback: This unit will play MP3 and WMA files recorded onto CD-R
and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 Level 1 format. It is recommended
that MP3s be recorded with bit rates of 128 kbps or higher, and WMA
files at bit rates of 64 to 160 kbps. The player can recognize up to
600 files. This unit is not compatible with ID3 tags.
JPEG
Playback: This unit will play JPEG still image files recorded onto
CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 Level 1 format. This unit can
recognize baseline JPEG files of less than 30MB. JPEG files can be
displayed one at a time, or in a slideshow fashion.
Video D/A Converter: The
27MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog (D/A)
conversion ensures
highly accurate playback of delicate, low-level video signals, giving
you a vivid picture that is faithful in every detail. Oversampling of
4x is used for both Progressive and Interlaced video signals, allowing
more detailed D/A conversion. Higher quality picture reproduction is
also possible thanks to a filter with flexible shutout characteristics
that is used for the analog filter in the latter stage.
Audio D/A
Converter: 24-bit, 192-kHz audio D/A converter that is well
protected from noise caused by fluctuations in current from the power
supply. This high performance D/A converter allows not only input of
the 24-bit/192 kHz data of DVD-Audio discs. Furthermore, the same DAC
is used unsparingly for the surround, center and LFE channels to
provide optimum sound quality during multi-channel playback as well.
Noise Shaped
Video (NSV): The NSV feature works in the digital domain to reduce
noise in the video signal frequency band in order to enhance video
signal linearity.
HDMI (High
Definition Multimedia Interface): The unit's HDMI simplifies A/V
connections by carrying uncompressed SD or HD digital video and up to
8 channels of digital audio all in one cable. This unit features HDCP
copyright protection technology, and must be connected to an HDCP-compliant
device. The output resolution can be set to match the capability of
the monitor or projector. The HDMI connection is compatible with
DVD-Video and DVD-Audio. The video signal format can be set to 480p,
720p or 1080i.
Component Video Output: In addition to the composite video
output and the S-video output, this unit is equipped with a set of
component video outputs. When connected to a television with a
component video input, the component video output of this unit will
provide picture color and detail that is superior to video from
composite and S-video outputs. The component outputs can be set to
pass either progressive or interlaced video.
Buffer
Memory: This unit is
equipped with buffer memory to ensure that both picture and sound are
played without interruption when the DVD disc shifts from layer 1 to
layer 2, or in the rare event of a pickup dropout.
Picture and
Fujicolor Playback: JPEG files stored on Kodak picture CDs,
Fujicolor CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs can be played as a slide show and
enjoyed.
MP3 Playback:
This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW
discs using the ISO 9660 format. .
SRS
TruSurround: Using this feature, the multi-channel sound normally
achieved with five speakers is recreated using only the two front
stereo speakers.
Markers: Up to 5 points on a DVD can be stored in memory and
easily recalled. Markers are automatically cleared when the power is
turned off or when the tray is opened.
Resume Play Memory Function:
When the Stop button is pressed during DVD-Video
playback, that position is stored in the memory. When the Play
button is pressed after pressing the Stop button, playback resumes
from the position where the disc was stopped. The resume play memory
function is canceled if the disc tray is opened or the Stop button is
pressed a second time.
Program
Play: Up to 20 tracks on a Video CD, audio CD, Super Audio
CD, or DVD-Audio disc can be programmed and played in any order.
Note:
The Program Play function does not work with DVD-Video discs or
discs containing MP3 files.
Random
Play: When playing a Video CD, audio CD or Super Audio CD,
you can play the tracks in random order. When playing a disc with MP3
files, you can play the files in random order. When playing a
DVD-Audio disc, random playback is performed within the selected
group.
Note:
The Random Play function does not work with DVD-Video discs.
Scan
Search: When playing an audio CD or Super
Audio CD, there are four fast-play speeds in both directions. When
playing a DVD-Video disc, DVD-Audio disc, or Video CD, there are seven
fast-play speeds in both directions.
Slow Motion:
When playing a DVD-Video disc or Video CD, you have access to four
slow-motion speeds in both directions.
Parental Control: This unit
allows you to set playback restrictions for DVDs using Parental
Control. Parental Control allows you to restrict playback according to
a predetermined level. You can select a parental control rating from
0-8, which is protected by a 4-digit password.
Auto
Power-Off: If the unit is in stop mode for approximately 30
minutes, it will automatically switch to standby mode.
Dimmer:
The display can be set to one of three brightness levels, or turned
