This is the cheapest HDMI 1080p player on earth and is the flakiest,
piece of junk I have ever owned. I was fooled by the 1080p HDMI output
for such a great price, but little did I know how bad this player was.
Picture quality sucks. Better when using my old NON-HDMI pioneer player.
Quality sucks, half the time it say no disc, even though there is a disk
in the player. Just as bad as previous Philips players DVD-5982. I
thought they may have improved it but not at all.
Player
works

The player works, but the picture quality is ok the say the
most. Got it hooked up with hdmi, but can't really tell the
difference between the HDMI 1080p output or the RCA composite
Yellow red white output. If you have a new HDMI LCD or Plasma
tv, I'd consider purchasing another player if you can spend
the extra cash. It does play all the foreign movies though.
I've bought a new JVC player as my Main player and have this
as a extra one for my basement now.
Philips
is a cheap Chinese piece of Crap
Reviewer: (Ontario, Canada)
I have had other items made my Philips that I have been very happy
with. However this player is just a cheap chinese piece of crap with a
Philips logo on it. Don't waste your money. Buy a JVC or Pioneer player
instead. I have an old JVC which I have been using for 5 years and it
works much better then this Philips I was going to replace it with. I
also recently purchased a Pioneer HDMI region free player I am very
happy with. This Philips freezes up when watching movies and doesn't
play many discs. It says NO Disc even if there is a disc in the machine.
It is so flimsy that I think I'm going to break it just by looking at
it. It is going back to you for an exchange.
Not
that bad

I'm not sure why everyone does not like this player. It is
a good cheap player. It may not be well made as a Pioneer or
JVC but for half the price, who cares. It works and it plays
movies from different countries with HDMI. For $75 bucks, what
more do you expect?
