BD-Live: beyond the disc
|
|
We
understand; this might be difficult to believe. But
there is even more to the Blu-ray Disc home
theater experience than high-realism full HD 1080p video
and startling 7.1-channel uncompressed surround sound.
Like BD-Live, for example. In combination with the
Pioneer BDP-320's 1GB of built-in memory and ethernet
port, BD-Live lets you discover a whole new dimension of
the Blu-ray experience. BD-Live is the interactive
component of the Blu-ray Disc format that gives you the
opportunity to download and enjoy bonus trailers and
movie features, participate in online gaming, as well as
synchronize viewing, chat live, and video message with
other BD-Live users. Because the BDP-320 features
built-in memory, you're ready to take advantage of
BD-Live functionality right out of the box (with an
existing internet connection and BD-Live-compatible
disc). Use the integrated USB 2.0 port to connect
additional memory devices like thumb drives or external
hard drives to expand your BD-Live storage capacity. Not
only can the ethernet port be used to access online
BD-Live content, but it also serves to give you access
to online firmware updates for the BDP-320, keeping you
on the cutting edge of the Blu-ray Disc experience. |
As the director intended
|
|
For
the optimal high definition Blu-ray video experience at
home, the BDP-320 features True24fps capability. Because
all your favorite movies are filmed at 24
frames-per-second (fps) while most home video systems
are equipped to display video at 30fps, most standard
systems have to subject film-based video content to
alterations that make the 24fps content display ay
30fps. While this solves the problem, it also causes
others — this alteration often results in the appearance
of artifacts, or distortion of the video image.
True24fsp capability, on the other hand, offers
processing that seamlessly transfers the 24fps content
on your favorite Blu-ray movie to your 24fsp-compatible
HDTV. Video as the director intended. Further, a
PureCinema deinterlacer advances interlaced-scanned
video from broadcast TV or DVD to smooth
progressive-scan video. |
Another word on video
|
|
Pioneer's BDP-320 also takes a few extra measures to
assure that the video that ultimately reaches your HDTV
is as stunning as possible. A Picture Control Suite
offers 13 different video adjustments, including
Progressive Motion, PureCimena, Detail, White Level,
Black Level, Gamma Correction, Hue, and Chroma Level.
Also, three different noise-reduction circuits
dramatically improve the video signal by removing common
sources of error. Based on a pixel-per-pixel basis, 3D
Noise Reduction reduces Gaussian Noise without blurring
the image. Block and Mosquito Noise Reduction, on the
other hand, enhance poorly created content for sharp,
detailed video from any source. Finally, BonusView
Support allows for viewing of independent high
definition simultaneous video streams. This means that
your can watch your favorite Blu-ray movie while also
watching bonus features at the same time. |
HDMIncredible
|
|
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity,
Pioneer's BDP-320 features one HDMI output. HDMI
(High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only
interface in consumer electronics that can carry both
uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed
multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p,
1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes
in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with
that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to
display that content in the most effective format. Since
HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is
only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and
display device. No more complicated cable set-up when
installing your home theater system, and no more ugly
cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports
standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus
multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also,
HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note
that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to
make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.) |
