Denon 2910 Region Free DVD Player

Whether you're looking for sublime picture quality, or the heart and soul of your favorite music, you'll find it with the DVD-3910! By combining state-of-the-art technology with old-fashioned craftsmanship, Denon has created a component with the look and feel of a fine instrument. Its handsome brushed-aluminum front panel and awe-inspiring performance make the '3910 an ideal choice for any first-class home theater or audio system.

If your setup includes an HD television with DVI or HDMI capability, you're in for an unforgettable movie experience. The future-ready DVD-3910's Digital Visual Interface (DVI) output uses advanced video processing and upconversion to create stunning, HD-compatible 720p or 1080i pictures from standard DVDs. Using the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connection, you'll enjoy the added convenience of streaming upconverted video and digital audio signals together on one cable!

Extensive care and special materials have been used in the construction of the '3910. For example, the newly-developed disc loading mechanism uses a guide and tray painted with a protein material to eliminate vibration that can adversely affect sound and picture quality. And inside the cover is a shielded, 3-box chassis designed to isolate sensitive internal components from each other and from outside interference.

Its ability to play music formats from SACD and DVD-Audio to MP3 and WMA make this Denon an audiophiles dream! High-end Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit DACs make the most of your conventional CD collection, while Pure Direct mode lets you switch off the video circuits and display panel, for greater sonic purity. The exclusive Denon Link digital output is compatible with certain Denon A/V surround receivers.

  • General Features

This player is modified to be a Code Free dvd player so that it will play any region dvd from anywhere in the world. It will also convert Pal to NTSC and NTSC to Pal to allow you to play any DVD on any TV Guaranteed. This player is region free, multi region, zone free, multi zone, code free, & all region.

    Multi-Format Player:

The Denon DVD-3910 is a "universal" player, which offers playback of both ultra high-resolution multi-channel audio formats: DVD-Audio and SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc). Both formats, with their wide frequency responses, capture subtle details that make music sound richer and more real.

    Disc Compatibility:

This unit can play the following types of discs: DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Video CD, Audio CD, and Super Audio CD (SACD). In addition, this unit is compatible with CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, and DVD-RW discs, as well as MP3, WMA, and JPEG files recorded on CD-R, CD-RW or CD-ROM discs. According to the manufacturer, this unit can also play DVD+R and DVD+RW discs, although compatibility with these discs is not mentioned in the manual.

    Dual Discrete Video Circuit:

The DVD-3910 uses dual 12-bit 216 MHz video D/A converters to ensure highly accurate playback of delicate, low-level video signals and give you a vivid picture that is faithful in every detail. One D/A converter is used to process Progressive signals and one is used for Interlaced signals to eliminate mutual interference between the two types of signals.

    Audio Processing:

This unit uses 24-bit, 192 kHz audio D/A converters that are well protected from noise caused by fluctuations in current from the power supply. It has built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoders along with a 5.1-channel analog output.

    Pure Direct Mode:

The DVD-3910 includes two Pure Direct modes that further improve sound quality. For example, during analog audio output, Pure Direct can turn off digital signal outputs, video signal outputs, and the front panel display, which can easily influence the sound quality of the analog audio signals. You can define which operations are to be turned off and store those preferences in memory.

    HDCD Decoder:

HDCD is a digital recording technology, compatible with the conventional CD format, that significantly reduces distortion during recording to expand the dynamic range and realize high resolution. The HDCD decoder allows the DVD-3910 to play discs that have been recorded in HDCD format and to bring out the superior sonic performance from these discs. Combined with Denon's advanced audio technology, the DVD-3910 masterfully reproduces HDCD's rich dynamic range and beautiful sound quality.

    Vibration-Resistant Design:

Since the high-density data recorded on DVD must be read with absolute accuracy, vibrations from outside or from internal sources, such as the power supply, will adversely affect sound and picture quality. A variety of designs has been incorporated in the DVD-3910 to suppress these unwanted vibrations. The DVD mechanism section in the main chassis has been divided in a two-box construction to further protect it from vibrations. Furthermore, the unit is shielded from internal and external interference via a 3-box chassis design.

    High-End Digital Outputs:

This unit can be connected to another compatible component using a single cable for high quality digital images and sound with little transfer loss:

    Denon Link:

This terminal can be used for digital audio transfer of DVD-Video signals, as well as multi-channel audio signals of DVD-Audio. (Compatible only with Denon receivers with Denon Link connectors, such as AVR-5803 and AVR-3805)

    IEEE 1394:

This terminal can digitally transfer audio signals from DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, and Super Audio CD, and other multi-channel audio signals.

This terminal can transfer digital video and digital audio signals from DVD-Video and DVD-Audio signals.

Digital video signals can be transferred to display components that are supported by HDCP for content protection. The DVD-3910 supports the 24-pin DVI-D cable, but not the 29-pin connector.

    Black Level:

When the HDMI or DVI-D outputs are used, you can set the black level to Normal (within a range of 16 to 235) or Enhanced (within a range of 0 to 246).

    DCDi By Faroudja:

The DVD-3910's Progressive Scan technology is powered by the latest DCDi by Faroudja FLI-2310 decoding engine for the finest processing of film, video, graphics, or mixed-mode content.

    8 MB Buffer Memory:

This unit is equipped with an 8 MB buffer memory to ensure that both picture and sound are played without interruption when the DVD disc shifts from layer 1 to layer 2, or in the rare event of a pickup dropout.

    NTSC/PAL Compatible:

The TV Type can be set to NTSC, PAL or Multi. The Multi setting automatically switches the output to NTSC or PAL depending upon the type of disc loaded.

    AL24 Processing for All Channels:

Denon has further developed its proprietary AL24 Processing, an analog waveform reproduction technology, to support the 192 kHz sampling frequency of DVD-Audio. This new technology, AL24 Processing Plus, thoroughly suppresses quantization noise associated with D/A conversion of LPCM signals to reproduce the low-level signals with optimum clarity that will bring out all the delicate nuances of the music.

    Picture Quality Adjustments:

The DVD-3910 allows you to select a Standard picture quality setting (default settings) or customize the settings and save them in one of five image quality memories (M1-M5). Custom settings include adjustments for contrast, brightness, sharpness (mid and high), hue, CCS, white level, chroma level, chroma delay, DNR, vertical enhancer, horizontal enhancer, gamma, setup level, horizontal position, and vertical position.

    Digital Audio Output Capabilities:

When playing copyright-protected linear PCM or packed PCM DVDs, no digital signals are output for sources exceeding 48kHz/16-bits. When making digital connections to a receiver that is not compatible with 96kHz/88kHz signals, you can set the unit to output the signal as 44.1kHz or 48kHz LPCM.

    Bass Management:

To tailor the output of the 5.1-channel jacks to the bass handling capabilities and configuration of your speaker system, left and right front, center, left surround and right surround speakers can be set to "Large", "Small" or "Off". The subwoofer can be set to "On" or "Off". The speaker distances can be set between 1 and 60 feet in 1-foot steps. The low-pass crossover can be set at 40Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz or 120Hz with a high-pass slope of 12dB/octave and a low-pass slope of 24dB/octave. You can also adjust the output level for each speaker between 0 and 10dB in 1dB steps. Note: The Speaker Setting and Speaker Distance settings are turned off when you select the "Source Direct" option.

    SRS TruSurround:

The multi-channel sound normally achieved with five speakers is recreated using only two front stereo speakers. This results in a sound with a nearly natural sense of movement that seems to surround the head, without the strong directivity characteristic of multi-speaker system. TruSurround only works for DVD-Video and Video CDs.

    Video Scaler:

This unit features a built-in high quality video scaler that is capable of outputting video signals in a variety of customizable HD formats. You can select in the Video Setup menu to output the image from the HDMI and DVI-D connectors as 480p/576p, 720p, or 1080i.

    MP3/WMA Playback:

This unit will play MP3 and WMA files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 Level 1 format. It is recommended that MP3s be recorded with bit rates of 128 kbps or higher, and WMA files at bit rates of 64 to 160 kbps. The player can recognize up to 600 files. This unit is not compatible with ID3 tags.

    JPEG Playback:

This unit will play JPEG still image files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 Level 1 format. This unit can recognize baseline JPEG files of less than 30MB. JPEG files can be displayed one at a time, or in a slideshow fashion.

    Resume Play Function:

This function allows you to resume DVD playback at the point where it left off the last time you stopped playback. The resume function is cleared by pressing the stop button twice, opening the disc drawer, adjusting the Parental Lock function, or removing power from the unit. This feature only works with discs that have elapsed time information.

    Slow Motion Speeds:

When playing a DVD-Video disc, you may move forward or backward through the program in one of four slow-motion speeds (1/8x, 1/6x, 1/4x and 1/2x). When playing a Video CD, you may move forward only through the program in one of four slow-motion speeds. No sound is output during slow-motion play.

    Scanning Speeds:

There are seven fast forward and reverse speeds for DVD-Video and DVD-Audio discs (2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 16x, 32x, and 64x) and four for SACD, Video CD, and CD (2x, 4x, 6x, and 8x).

    Program Playback:

You can create a playlist of tracks from DVD-Audio, Video CD, SACD, and Audio CD of up to 20 steps. The playlist is deleted when the unit is turned off or the disc is ejected.

You can bookmark up to 5 scenes you want to see again so you can start playback from the marked position whenever you want. The marks are cleared when the disc is ejected or the unit is turned off.

    Ratings (Parental Control):

This unit allows you to set playback restrictions for DVDs using the Ratings feature. You can select a parental control rating level from 0 (lock all) to 8 (No Limit), which is protected by a 4-digit password.

    Display Dimming:

The unit's display can be adjusted in 4 steps from All Off to Always On.

    Remote Control (RC-972):

The supplied remote is programmed to operate this unit only. A backlight button supplies illumination for the disc transport buttons only (play, pause, stop, etc).
